Return of Varrock’s Defender in Old School RuneScape’s Roadmap

This month, players can anticipate the arrival of Scurrius, The Rat King—an unusually large rodent and the latest addition to the PvM boss roster. Crafted specifically as an entry-level encounter, Scurrius serves as a gateway for players to delve into PvM content, allowing them to face the boss either solo or as part of a group.

The imminent resurgence of the Defender of Varrock is approaching, reintroducing most of the quest in a manner reminiscent of how veterans fondly recall it, albeit with some adjustments. The Mahjarrat Storyline is set to progress with the rollout of a Grandmaster Quest titled “While Guthix Sleeps.

Derived from the original quest, it has undergone backporting with several modifications to align it with the game’s long-term plans. Players can anticipate the overhauled quest to be released in the summer.

An update is in the works for the Wilderness, catering to all builds and introducing content to accommodate various player preferences. As part of this update, the Chaos Temple is undergoing a revitalization. Upon analyzing statistics, it has been noted that a significant portion of PvP deaths in the current Wilderness occurs in the 20-40 level range. To address this, the development team aims to introduce new elements.

The revitalized Chaos Temple is envisioned as a hotspot, providing players with opportunities to earn cash, acquire new Wilderness or PvP-focused unique items, and engage in battles with players around their level. Essentially, it serves as a potential entry point into Wilderness PvP, enticing players with both the prospect of engaging in player-versus-player combat and the allure of valuable loot.

Players can expect to embark on their journey from the heart of the kingdom, exploring its capital and venturing through diverse locations. The expansion not only covers the capital but also introduces varied locations, unique creatures, captivating lore, and more.

The Fortis Colosseum is gearing up to unveil a PvM minigame, showcasing a novel rune type and presenting dungeon content alongside corresponding rewards.
